Just came back from Santa Barabara 2 days ago, and coming home to Chicago which was under ice was extreme! I miss Santa Barbara so much that I called off work and has yet to leave my apartment! It reminds me of the Spanish city, Zamboanga Philippines, where I grew up. I felt really comfortable in Santa Barbara. Might even move there...

I was born in Ventura and I moved from Santa Babylon several years ago. I miss a quite a few things but it sure can get monotonous with only two seasons, fire and mud. Santa Babylon is pretty, but if you live there too long you don't see it. I remember Too many phony 'aggressively laid back' people wearing all the 'right' 'laid back gear' to look laid back. Mainly tourists from L.A. Much too expensive 100% of the time everywhere. I don't know how working people survive.

"When you grow up here, you don't realize how perfect it is, and, you think that every place is like this." Too true.

Don't worry, one day you'll realize how wrong you are. But, by then, you'll have already moved out and it'll be too late.

Apparently I was edited since the entire name of the cafeteria I was trying to reference was Kopper Koffee Pot. Goleta was "the tulees." And SB High School was the sole high school at the time. The legit theatres were the Lobero and the Alhecama. Our favorite C&W station was Wrangler Jim. Yep, good memories, all right!

Thanks for the memories, although this SB is quite new. When I lived there we referred to that unique theatre on upper State Street as the Fox Arlington. There were three others: the Granada Theatre, State Theatre, and the Mission theatre. What's funny is that the State Theatre catered primarily to white middle class kids, while the Mission Theatre on the lower end of State catered the minority kids. Gone is the Kopper Koffee and Mom's Italian Village. But is The Spigot still there?
